About Us
Stour Environmental Credits (SEC) is a not-for-profit organisation formed through the collaboration of Ashford Borough Council and Canterbury City Council. Under the governance of a Board of Directors and registered at Companies House, our dedicated team efficiently manages the day-to-day operations.
At SEC, our mission is to enable sustainable development across the Stour catchment that balances the protection and enhancement of the environment with the creation of much-needed homes and development opportunities. We strive to balance environmental, social, and economic considerations by offering a platform where developers can purchase nutrient neutrality credits for phosphorus and nitrogen for use in developments within the Stour Catchment
As a not-for-profit, the proceeds from these sales will be invested in local initiatives that further mitigate nutrient pollution in the catchment.
Please see our of the River Stour Catchment map [pdf] 983KB for an indicative outline of the catchment area concerned.
